2026: The Road So Far

17th March 2026

DONORS, YOU ARE WONDERFUL!

Here’s how you’re helping your community. Our foodbank has been struggling, but even in tighter times, we’re doing everything we can to help. Because of your incredible donations and some fantastic grants, just since the start of January, we’ve:

  • given 2,018 local people emergency food – 1,353 adults and 665 children
  • given people fresh fruit and vegetables with their parcels for the past two months, a massive difference when nutritious food has become incredibly expensive (thanks to a brilliant £500 grant by Groundwork UK with Tesco)
  • made sure wherever possible people can get a loaf with their parcel (thank you Warburtons and Brushstrokes Sandwell)
  • given nappies, sanitary supplies and incontinence supplies to those in need, so they can keep their hygiene and dignity, and keep caring for those they love – thank you to individual donors and communities for their help with this quest while we found our way through a menstrual-hygiene products crisis, and In Kind Direct for providing wholesale-or-lower charity prices for sanitary products
  • helped people with pet food in difficult circumstances, and helped them get financial support for vet visits (thanks to RSPCA’s marvellous Pet Food Bank Scheme)
  • connected people to support for debt, mental health (with in-house help from Black Country Mental Health), fuel bills (with help from Black Country LEAP and The Wise Group’s HEAT program), abuse and sexual violence, as well as helping with digital poverty. We’ve shown people potential ways out of abusive situations, struggles with addiction and unsafe housing.
  • worked with local schools on education and outreach: from teaching primary school children in an age-appropriate way how a foodbank works, to working with secondary schools on their Harvest and citizenship donations
  • listened, when people needed it most.

And that’s just as of today. By Friday afternoon, those numbers will be bigger again. We couldn’t do any of it without you – these are where your donations go. We don’t spend anything on advertising; this is all direct impact, with a lot of help from our donors, friends and neighbours. Thank you.
